from the Director

There comes a time in anyone’s life when a shift takes place between a parent and child, evolving their relationship. Like the flip of a switch, all things align and we suddenly see our parents in a new light, realizing they exist, think, and live lives entirely separate from their children. Almost always, it’s a flower of understanding that blossoms into a flood of impossible questions and knotty, uncertain feelings. Always Were seeks to be that moment, to capture that deeply intimate process where parent and child both come together yet remain at a ghostly distance.

our Fiscal Sponsor

Our team is honored to say we've once again teamed up with the Louisville Film Society. Visit our page on their website here to learn more about their organization and how you can help support our team!

Always Were is a fiscally sponsored project of the Louisville Film Society (LFS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Contributions in support of Always Were are payable to LFS and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. LFS will administer all funds received on behalf of Always Were and exercise financial oversight to assure that funds are spent for their designated purpose.
